Put quite simply, we LOVE the fall season. Perhaps it’s the kid in us that still associates the season with going back to school, or more specifically, going shopping for “back to school clothes.” For both of us, compared to the other three seasons, fall provides us the most opportunities to express ourselves through fashion. You can layer comfortably, yet you don’t need to cover it all up with an overcoat; and suedes, leathers, and other skins continue to evolve, all coming in different weights, shades, and interpretations.
As we see summer fade away into fall, and as many students do on their first day of school, the Ambassador team is reflecting on our “summer vacation.” Among our highlights this summer, is our first time sponsorship of the “Miss Detroit Yacht Club” boat at the Detroit APBA Gold Cup, presented by the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club.
Another thing we look forward to, is the upcoming sports season. It’s no secret that we are both Michigan fans. GO BLUE! The newly remodeled stadium is something you must experience. The September games at The Big House are great, as the weather allows you to wear shorts and your “must have” yellow tee. We are also ever hopeful for a great Lions season, as evidenced by our reinvestment in our season tickets. (Call us if you’d like a pair). The Tigers are going into their home stretch, and before you know it, hockey and basketball camp will begin for the Wings and the Pistons. The Pistons … hmm … probably politically correct to leave that one alone for now. Stay tuned!
Pleasantly so, it also seems that the business of magazines is not going out of style. According to the Magazine Publisher’s of America, magazine readership is definitely up. National magazine readership has increased almost 5 percent in the past five years. Paid magazine subscriptions reached nearly 300 million in 2009 with nearly 22 percent of all new subscriptions ordered online. So the Internet, which many feared would be the demise of the magazine industry is, actually, fueling the business.
So despite Al Gore’s internet, the Kindle, iPhone, and iPad, magazines, particularly regional lifestyle books, are here to stay. And rest assured, we are excited about the future of our magazine, our team, and the potential of the community we call home.
Embrace the changing season, check out a game, and enjoy our Fall Fashion issue.
