2012 Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix
See Helio Castroneves (our May/June issue cover star) in action June 1 through June 3 at the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix. Music Entertainment throughout the weekend is provided by The B52s, Ronnie Dunn and Mitch Ryder. The IZOD IndyCar series race, Pirelli World Challenge Series race #2 and the Firestone Indy Lights series race will all take place Sunday on the Raceway at Belle Isle Park. Light Up the RiverFront
Join the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy from 6 to 10 p.m. on June 7 for the launch of their new young professionals group - Rivière28 - at Milliken State Park & Harbor. The group aims to raise awareness for the Conservancy and its role as the permanent stewards of this public space, responsible for the year-round operations, maintenance, security and programming of the riverfront as well as the Dequindre Cut. This inaugration event will feature live music, a pig roast from Eastern Market and campfire treats in a bonfire setting with the beautiful Detroit Riverfront as a background.
WYCD Downtown Hoedown
Don’t miss the 30th anniversary of the Downtown Hoedown featuring over 40 of the biggest bands in country music today. Hosted by 99.5 WYCD and sponsored by Arbys, Ram Trucks and Soaring Eagle Casino and Resort, the Downtown Hoedown will take over the grounds surrounding Comerica Park June 8 through June 10. Detroit River Days
Kick off summer with Detroit’s River Days festival June 22 through June 24, hosted by the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. The festival, which started in 2007 to mark the opening of Detroit’s transformed riverfront, is a great family event filled with local vendors and artists.
Detroit Target Fireworks
The skyline of Detroit will fill with light for the 54th annual Target Fireworks at 10:06 p.m. on June 25. The Detroit river once again serves as the venue for the largest firework show of its kind, hosted by The Parade Company. Arrive early for this free event as its sure to be packed.
